High Beam Headlight Circuit: Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
- According to the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test.MAIN BODY
Techstream Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Head Light Hi Headlight dimmer relay OFF or ON - OK
Headlight dimmer relay (DIM relay) operates (High beam headlights illuminate).

OK → See step 7
- INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY (DIM RELAY)
- Inspect the headlight dimmer relay (DIM relay). Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .
NG → REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY (DIM RELAY)
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY (DIM RELAY) - AUXILIARY BATTERY)
- Remove the headlight dimmer relay (DIM relay) from the No. 2 motor compartment relay block.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Relay Terminal 2 - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V Relay Terminal 3 - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY (DIM RELAY) - HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH / RH AND BODY GROUND)
- Remove the headlight dimmer relay (DIM relay) from the No. 2 motor compartment relay block.
- Disconnect the A58 headlight assembly LH connector.
- Disconnect the A59 headlight assembly RH connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Relay Terminal 5 - A58-3 (HI) Always Below 1 Ω Relay Terminal 5 - A59-3 (HI) Always Below 1 Ω Relay Terminal 5 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher A58-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω A59-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY (DIM RELAY) - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY)
- Remove the headlight dimmer relay (DIM relay) from the No. 2 motor compartment relay block.
- Disconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Relay terminal 1 - 3B-25 Always Below 1 Ω Relay terminal 1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
- Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to REMOVAL
