DTC B1639/81: Rear Sensor Initialization Incomplete RH: Description

The circuit for the rear side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly and rear airbag sensor RH.

The rear airbag sensor RH detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.

DTC B1639/81 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the rear side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag).

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
B1639/81 When one of following conditions is met:
  • The center airbag sensor assembly receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the circuit for the rear side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag) for 2 seconds.
  • Side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) malfunction
  • Rear airbag sensor RH malfunction
  • Center airbag sensor assembly malfunction
  • Floor wire
  • Side airbag sensor RH (for rear side)
  • Rear airbag sensor RH
  • Center airbag sensor assembly
