Blower Motor Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RELAY 
    1. Remove the heater blower motor relay.
    2. Inspect the heater blower motor relay. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 .

    NG → REPLACE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT BLOWER MOTOR WITH FAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the A31 blower motor with fan sub-assembly connector.
    2. Inspect the blower motor with fan sub-assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 .

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RELAY - BLOWER MOTOR WITH FAN SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A65-3 - A31-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      A65-3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the heater control sub-assembly. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [03/2012 - 05/2013] - Step 3 .
    2. Inspect the heater control sub-assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [03/2012 - 05/2013] - Step 2 .

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RELAY - HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D23 heater control sub-assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A65-2 - D23-10 Always Below 1 Ω
      A65-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BLOWER MOTOR WITH FAN SUB-ASSEMBLY - HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A31-1 - D23-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A31-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D23-5(E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT BLOWER RESISTOR 
    1. Remove the blower resister. Refer to REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 .
    2. Inspect the blower resistor. Refer to INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 .

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY - BLOWER RESISTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the A26 blower resister connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D23-3(M&M1) - A26-2(M&M1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D23-6(M2) - A26-3(M2) Always Below 1 Ω
      D23-3(M&M1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D23-6(M2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BLOWER MOTOR WITH FAN SUB-ASSEMBLY - BLOWER RESISTOR) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A31-1 - A26-1(H) Always Below 1 Ω
      A31-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BLOWER RESISTOR - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A26-4(L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   12 

  12. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [03/2012 - ]  
  13. REPLACE BLOWER MOTOR WITH FAN SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 
  14. REPLACE BLOWER RESISTOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 
  15. REPLACE HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [03/2012 - 05/2013] - Step 3
