Air Conditioning Compressor Magnetic Clutch Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Main body / Date List.
    5. Check the value(s) by referring to the table below.
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      A/C SW Input A/C switch status / ON or OFF ON: A/C switch on
      OFF: A/C switch off
      -

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 3 HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY - POWER SOURCE)

    1. Measure the voltage according to the valve(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D21-2(B) - Body ground
      • Ignition switch on
      • Blower switch: on
      10 to 16 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component with Component with harness connected
      (No. 3 heater control sub-assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT NO. 3 HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the No. 3 heater control sub-assembly. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [03/2012 - 05/2013] - Step 4 .
    2. Inspect the No. 3 heater control sub-assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [03/2012 - 05/2013] - Step 3 .

    NG → See step   19 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 3 HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU)) 
    1. Disconnect the D21 No. 3 heater control sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the D6 main body ECU (network gateway ECU) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D6-17 - D21-3(A/C) Always Below 1 Ω
      D6-17 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU) 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Date List.
    2. Check the value(s) by referring to the table below.
      ENGINE

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      A/C Pressure Normal SW Pressure Switch status / ON or OFF ON: A/C on
      OFF: A/C off
      -

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

      Result

    A: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK REFRIGERANT VOLUME 
    1. Check the refrigerant volume. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2012 - 05/2013] - Step 1

    NG → CHARGE REFRIGERANT 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY - POWER SOURCE)

    1. Disconnect the A7 air conditioning tube and accessory assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A7-4(B) - Body ground Ignition switch on 10 to 16 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without Component with harness connected
      (Air conditioning tube and accessory assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A7-2(E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER RELAY - AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY)

    1. Remove the heater relay from the engine room relay block and junction block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 - A7-1(AC) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 - Body ground Always 10kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without relay installed
      (Engine Room Relay Block)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A33 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A7-3(ACP) - A33-8(ACP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A7-3(ACP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1

    NG → REPLACE AIR CONDITIONER TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY 

    OK → REPLACE ECM 

  12. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Date List.
    2. Check the value(s) by referring to the table below.
      ENGINE

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      A/C Signal A/C switch status / ON or OFF ON: A/C switch on
      OFF: A/C switch off
      The air conditioning control assembly sends the A/C switch signal to the ECM via CAN communication.

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

    B → See step   16 

    A: Go to next step 

  13. INSPECT HEATER RELAY 
    1. Remove the heater relay from the engine room relay block and junction block.
    2. Inspect the heater relay. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 .

    NG → REPLACE HEATER RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER RELAY - POWER SOURCE)

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      5 - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      Ignition switch on 10 to 16V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without relay installed
      (Engine Room Relay Block)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER RELAY - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the A35 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the valve(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - A35-35(AC) Always Below 1 Ω
      1 - Body ground Always 10kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without relay installed
      (Engine Room Relay Block)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  16. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER RELAY - COMPRESSOR WITH MAGNET CLUTCH)

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C17-1(MG+) - 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      C17-1(MG+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without relay installed
      (Engine Room Relay Block)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  17. INSPECT COMPRESSOR WITH MAGNET CLUTCH 
    1. Inspect the compressor with magnet clutch. Refer to INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 .

    NG → See step   18 

    OK → REPLACE ECM 

  18. REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MAGNET CLUTCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] - Step 8 
  19. REPLACE NO. 3 HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [03/2012 - 05/2013] - Step 4
