DTC P0458: Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit Low; DTC P0459: Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit High [03/2012 - ]: Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVATE THE VSV FOR EVAP CONTROL)
- Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose (canister side) from the purge valve.
- Start the engine.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Activate the VSV for EVAP Control.
- When the purge valve is operated using the Techstream, check whether the port of the purge valve applies suction to your finger.

- INSPECT PURGE VALVE
- Inspect the purge valve. Refer to INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] .

- INSPECT PURGE VALVE (POWER SOURCE)
- Disconnect the purge valve connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PURGE VALVE - ECM)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the purge valve connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for open)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A36-11 (PRG) - d1-2 Always Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for short)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A36-11 (PRG) or d1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2012 - ] .
- Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.
- Start the engine.
- Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
- Read DTCs.RESULT
Result Proceed to No DTC is output A P0458 or P0459 is output B HINT:
If the engine does not start, replace the ECM.

- INSPECT RELAY (EFI MAIN1)
- Inspect the EFI MAIN1 relay. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1 .
NG → REPLACE RELAY (EFI MAIN1)
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PURGE VALVE - EFI MAIN1 RELAY)
- Disconnect the purge valve connector.
- Remove the EFI MAIN1 relay from the engine room relay block assembly.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- REPLACE ECM. Refer to REMOVAL [03/2012 - 05/2013]
- GO TO ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT. Refer to ECM Power Source Circuit
