DTC B1805/52: Short in Front Passenger Side Squib Circuit; DTC B1806/52: Open in Front Passenger Side Squib Circuit; DTC B1807/52: Short to GND in Front Passenger Side Squib Circuit; DTC B1808/52: Short to B+ in Front Passenger Side Squib Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the connectors from the instrument panel passenger airbag.
    4. Connect the white wire side of SST (resistance: 2.1 Ω) to connector E (orange connector).
      WARNING:

      Never connect the tester to the instrument panel passenger airbag (front passenger side squib) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.

      NOTE:
      • Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting SST.
      • Insert SST straight into the terminals of the connector.
      • SST: 09843-18061 
    5. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    10. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B1805, B1806, B1807 or B1808 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1805, B1806, B1807 and B1808 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   6 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect SST from connector E.
    4. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.
    5. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and instrument panel passenger airbag side) are not damaged.

      OK

      The lock button is not disengaged, and the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.

      *2 Center Airbag Sensor

    NG → REPLACE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB CIRCUIT 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      z2-2 (P+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      z2-1 (P-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z2-2 (P+) - z2-1 (P-) Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector B. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z2-2 (P+) - z2-1 (P-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      z2-2 (P+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      z2-1 (P-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Connect the connectors to the instrument panel passenger airbag and center airbag sensor.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B1805, B1806, B1807 or B1808 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1805, B1806, B1807 and B1808 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   8 

  5. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE) 
    1. Restore the released activation prevention mechanism of connector B to its original condition.

    2. Disconnect the instrument panel wire connector from the No. 2 instrument panel wire.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Cz1-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      Cz1-2 - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Cz1-1 - Cz1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector B. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Cz1-1 - Cz1-2 Always 1 MΩ or higher
      Cz1-1 - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      Cz1-2 - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

  6. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
