DTC B1690/15: Door Side Airbag Sensor RH Malfunction; DTC B1695/16: Door Side Airbag Sensor LH Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1690 and B1695 are not output A
      DTC B1695 is output B
      DTC B1690 is output C

    A → See step   4 

    B → See step   3 

    C: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Interchange the door side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1690 and B1695 are not output A
      DTC B1695 is output B
      DTC B1690 is output C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1690 and B1695 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Door Side Airbag Sensor LH
      *2 Rear Airbag Sensor RH
    10. Turn the ignition switch off.
    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    12. Return the door side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  3. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Interchange the door side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1690 and B1695 are not output A
      DTC B1690 is output B
      DTC B1695 is output C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1690 and B1695 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    10. Turn the ignition switch off.
    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    12. Return the door side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  4. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM 
  5. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM 
  9. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
