DTC B1653/35: Seat Position Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction: Procedure
- CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
- Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and seat position airbag sensor.
OK
The connectors are properly connected.
NG → CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK CONNECTORS
- Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and seat position airbag sensor.
- Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and seat position airbag sensor side) are not damaged. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
.
OK
The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

NG → REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR)

- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
- Using a service wire, connect terminals 13 (LSP-) and 14 (LSP+) of connector B.NOTE:
Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 Always Below 1 Ω - Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance

NG → See step 7
OK: Go to next step
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
- CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR
- Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor and seat position airbag sensor.
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

DTC B1653/35 is not output.

- REPLACE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
- Replace the seat position airbag sensor. Refer to REMOVAL

Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.
NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

- Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front seat inner belt LH.
