DTC B1630/23: Rear Airbag Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction; DTC B1632/81: Lost Communication with Rear Airbag Sensor RH; DTC B1635/24: Rear Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction; DTC B1637/82: Lost Communication with Rear Airbag Sensor LH: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1630, B1632, B1635 and B1637 are not output A
      DTC B1635 or B1637 is output B
      DTC B1630 or B1632 is output C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1630, B1632, B1635 or B1637 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    A → See step   4 

    B → See step   3 

    C: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1630, B1632, B1635 and B1637 are not output A
      DTC B1635 or B1637 is output B
      DTC B1630 or B1632 is output C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1630, B1632, B1635 or B1637 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Rear Airbag Sensor LH
      *2 Side Airbag Sensor RH
    10. Turn the ignition switch off.
    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    12. Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  3. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1630, B1632, B1635 and B1637 are not output A
      DTC B1630 or B1632 is output B
      DTC B1635 or B1637 is output C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1630, B1632, B1635 or B1637 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

      *2 Side Airbag Sensor LH
    10. Turn the ignition switch off.
    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    12. Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  4. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM 
  5. REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
