DTC P0351: Ignition Coil "A" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0352: Ignition Coil "B" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0353: Ignition Coil "C" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0354: Ignition Coil "D" Primary / Secondary Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY (POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B26-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B27-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B28-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B29-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B26-1 (+B) - B26-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B27-1 (+B) - B27-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B28-1 (+B) - B28-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B29-1 (+B) - B29-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Ignition Coil Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B26-2 (IGF) - B30-23 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B27-2 (IGF) - B30-23 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B28-2 (IGF) - B30-23 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B29-2 (IGF) - B30-23 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B26-3 (IGT1) - B30-108 (IGT1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B27-3 (IGT2) - B30-107 (IGT2) Always Below 1 Ω
      B28-3 (IGT3) - B30-106 (IGT3) Always Below 1 Ω
      B29-3 (IGT4) - B30-105 (IGT4) Always Below 1 Ω
      B26-2 (IGF) or B30-23 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B27-2 (IGF) or B30-23 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B28-2 (IGF) or B30-23 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B29-2 (IGF) or B30-23 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B26-3 (IGT1) or B30-108 (IGT1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B27-3 (IGT2) or B30-107 (IGT2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B28-3 (IGT3) or B30-106 (IGT3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B29-3 (IGT4) or B30-105 (IGT4) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0351, P0352, P0353 OR P0354) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Shuffle the arrangement of the ignition coil assemblies (among the No. 1 to No. 4 cylinders).
      NOTE:

      Do not shuffle the connectors.

    6. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    7. Check the DTCs output on the Techstream.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Same DTC is output A
      Different ignition coil DTC is output B

    B → See step   4 

    A → See step   5 

  4. REPLACE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  5. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL
