Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. for Airbag System:
      1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. for Occupant Classification System:
      1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      Airbag system DTC is output B
      Occupant classification system DTC is output C

    B → See step   7 

    C → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT) 
    1. Operate the Techstream according to the display and select Active Test. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Front passenger side seat belt warning light ON/OFF Confirm that the vehicle is stopped and the engine is idling.

      OK

      Front passenger side seat belt warning light condition can be switched by Active Test.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Temporarily replace the center airbag sensor with a new one. Refer to REMOVAL .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check the front passenger side seat belt warning light function.

      OK

      Front passenger side seat belt warning light operates normally.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → END (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. GO TO OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  6. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
