Brake Actuator: Removal

  1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.
  2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER CENTER  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  3. REMOVE BATTERY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY 
  5. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/o VSC) 
    1. Release the lock lever and disconnect the brake actuator connector.
      NOTE: Be careful not to allow brake fluid to enter the removed connector.

    2. Using a union nut wrench, separate the 6 brake tubes from the brake actuator.

    3. Use tags or labels to identify the place to reconnect each brake tube.

      HINT:

      • *1: To front wheel cylinder RH
      • *2: To front wheel cylinder LH
      • *3: To rear wheel cylinder RH
      • *4: To rear wheel cylinder LH
      • *5: From 1st master cylinder
      • *6: From 2nd master cylinder

    4. Remove the 3 bolts and brake actuator with bracket.
      NOTE: Do not damage the brake tubes or wire harness.

  7. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ VSC) 
    1. Release the lock lever and disconnect the brake actuator connector.
      NOTE: Be careful not to allow brake fluid to enter the removed connector.

    2. Using a union nut wrench, separate the 6 brake tubes from the brake actuator.

    3. Use tags or labels to identify the place to reconnect each brake tube.

      HINT:

      • *1: To front wheel cylinder RH
      • *2: To front wheel cylinder LH
      • *3: To rear wheel cylinder RH
      • *4: To rear wheel cylinder LH
      • *5: From 1st master cylinder
      • *6: From 2nd master cylinder

    4. Remove the 3 bolts and brake actuator with bracket.
      NOTE: Do not damage the brake tubes or wire harness.

  8. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR BRACKET ASSEMBLY (w/o VSC) 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and actuator bracket.

  9. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR BRACKET ASSEMBLY (w/VSC) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and actuator bracket.
