Inspection Procedure

HINT:

When using the intelligent tester, start from *1. When not using the intelligent tester, start from *2.

1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (ENGINE SPEED)*1 
   1. Check the DATA LIST for the proper functioning of the engine speed.

      ECM: 

      ECM REFERENCE

      ENGINE SPD	Engine speed / Min.: 0 rpm, Max.: 16,383 rpm	Almost equal to actual engine speed (When engine is running)	-

      OK: Engine speed on tester is almost equal to actual engine speed. 

   NG : GO TO  SFI SYSTEM 

   OK : GO TO NEXT STEP 

2. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY*2 
   1. Remove the combination meter but do not disconnect the connector.
   2. Start the engine.
   3. Using an oscilloscope, check the signal waveform of the meter.

      OK: As shown in the illustration. 

   NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

   OK : GO TO NEXT STEP 

3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COMBINATION METER - ECM) 
   1. Disconnect the C10 meter connector.
   2. Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.
   3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION
      
      

      Tester Connection	Specified Condition
      C10-11 ™ - E6-5 (TACH)	Below 1 Ω
      C10-11 ™ - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher

   NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

   OK : REPLACE ECM
