Inspection Procedure

HINT:

When using the intelligent tester, start from *1. When not using the intelligent tester, start from *2.

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (VEHICLE SPEED)*1 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the vehicle speed.

      Skid control ECU with actuator: 

      SKID CONTROL ECU WITH ACTUATOR REFERENCE

      OK: Vehicle speed displayed on tester is almost equal to actual vehicle speed. 

    NG : GO TO  BRAKE SYSTEM 

    OK : GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COMBINATION METER - SKID CONTROL ECU WITH ACTUATOR)*2 
    1. Disconnect the C10 meter connector.
    2. Disconnect the S1 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C10-10 (SP) - S1-12 (SP1)(1) Below 1 Ω
      C10-10 (SP) - S1-26 (SP1)(2) Below 1 Ω
      C10-10 (SP) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      (1) w/o VSC
      (2) w/ VSC

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK : GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK SKID CONTROL ECU WITH ACTUATOR (SP1 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the S1 ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S1-12 (SP1)(1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V
      S1-26 (SP1)(2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V
      (1) w/o VSC
      (2) w/ VSC

    NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    OK : GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the combination meter but do not disconnect the connectors.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the signal waveform of the meter.

      Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 msec./DIV.
      Vehicle condition Driving at approx. 20 km/h (12.4 mph)

      OK: As shown in the illustration. 

      HINT:

      As the vehicle speed increases, the wavelength shortens.

    NG : GO TO  BRAKE SYSTEM 

    OK : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
