Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal

CAUTION: Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing it (see AIRBAG SYSTEM  ).
  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY 
  3. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the airbag.
      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.
    2. Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly upper (see REMOVAL ).
    3. Remove the clip.

    4. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument panel wire assembly.
    5. Remove the 2 screws.

    6. Release the front side airbag door from the hook by slightly deflecting it and roll the front passenger airbag assembly rearward.
    7. Release the rear side airbag door from the other hook and remove the front passenger airbag assembly.
