Operation Check
- SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK (TEST MODE) (USING SST CHECK WIRE) NOTE: After replacing the yaw rate sensor and/or brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU), perform zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor (see CALIBRATION ).
HINT:
If the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or OFF during test mode, the DTCs will be erased.
- Procedures for the test mode:
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Using SST, connect terminal TS and CG of the DLC3.

- Check that the steering wheel is in the center position and move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Check that the ABS warning lamp and VSC warning lamp blink.
HINT:
If the ABS warning lamp does not blink, inspect the ABS warning lamp circuit or TS terminal circuit.
TROUBLE AREA REFERENCETrouble area ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT VSC WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT TS TERMINAL CIRCUIT - Check the master cylinder pressure sensor.
- Leaving the vehicle in a stationary condition and the brake pedal in free condition for 1 second, or more, continue to quickly depress the brake pedal with a force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) or more for 1 second, or more.
HINT:
At this time, the ABS warning lamp illuminates for 3 seconds.
- Check the speed sensor signal.
- Drive the vehicle straight forward at 45 km/h (28 mph) or more for several seconds and check that the ABS warning lamp turns off.
HINT:
The sensor check may not be completed if the wheels spin or the steering wheel is rotated during this check.
- Stop the vehicle.
- Using SST, connect terminal TC and CG of the DLC3.

- Count the number of blinks of the ABS warning lamp.
HINT:
- Refer to the diagnostic trouble code table for further details (see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE ).
- If all sensors are normal, the normal code is output (a cycle of 0.25 sec. ON and 0.25 sec. OFF is repeated).
- If more than 1 malfunction is detected at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed first.
- After the check, disconnect the SST from terminal TC and CG of the DLC3.
- Drive the vehicle straight forward at 45 km/h (28 mph) or more for several seconds and check that the ABS warning lamp turns off.
- Check the yaw rate sensor.
- Move the shift lever to the D position and drive the vehicle at 5 km/h (3 mph). Turn the steering wheel either to the left or right 90° or more, and drive the vehicle in a half-circle pattern.
- Stop the vehicle and move the shift lever to the P position. Check that the skid control buzzer sounds for 3 seconds.
If the skid control buzzer sounds, the sensor check is completed normally.
If the skid control buzzer does not sound, check the skid control buzzer circuit (see SKID CONTROL BUZZER CIRCUIT ), then perform the sensor check again.
If the skid control buzzer still does not sound, there is a malfunction in the VSC sensor. Check the DTC.
HINT:
- Drive the vehicle in a half-circle. At the end of the turn, the direction of the vehicle should be within 180° +/- 5° of its start position.
- Do not spin the wheels.
- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

- After performing the check, disconnect SST from terminals TS and CG, TC and CG of the DLC3 and turn the ignition switch OFF.

HINT:
- If the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or OFF during test mode, DTCs of the sensor check function will be erased.
- During test mode, the ECU records all DTCs of the sensor check function. By performing the sensor signal check, the codes are erased if proper function is confirmed. The codes left over are the codes where problems were found.
- Procedures for test mode:
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Check that the shift lever position is at P.
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Change the hand-held tester to test mode.
- Check that the ABS warning lamp and VSC warning lamp blink.
HINT:
If the ABS warning lamp and VSC warning lamp do not blink, inspect the ABS warning lamp circuit and VSC warning lamp circuit.

- Drive the vehicle straight forward at 45 km/h (28 mph) or higher for a few seconds. Then check that the ABS warning lamp turns off.
- Check the yaw rate sensor.
- Move the shift lever to the D position, and drive the vehicle at 5 km/h (3 mph). Turn the steering wheel either to the left or right 90° or more, drive the vehicle in a half-circle pattern.
- Stop the vehicle and move the shift lever to the P position. Check that the VSC buzzer sounds for 3 seconds.
If the skid control buzzer sounds, the sensor check is in normal completion.
If the skid control buzzer does not sound, check the skid control buzzer circuit (see SKID CONTROL BUZZER CIRCUIT ), then perform the sensor check again.
If the skid control buzzer still does not sound, there is a malfunction in the VSC sensor. Check the DTC.
HINT:
