Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the key in ignition switch.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5V reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Verify the BCM scan tool Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter is No.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 5 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and the 5V reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter displays Yes.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition switch.
