Preliminary Procedure
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Remove the wheel drive shaft retaining nut. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
.
- Without disconnecting the hydraulic brake hose from the caliper, remove and support the brake caliper with bracket as an assembly and remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement

Wheel Drive Shaft Retaining Nut
Tip:
Remove the wheel drive shaft retaining nut. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement

Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly Mounting Bolts (Qty: 3)
Tighten:
115 N.m (85 lb ft)

Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly
Tip:
- Note the orientation of wheel speed sensor pigtail, if equipped, during removal to aid in installation.
- Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
- Install the J 42129
Wheel Hub Remover, CJ129 Universal Hub Puller - Snap-On, 7394 Universal Hub Puller - OTC, or equivalent, to the wheel bearing/hub assembly and secure with lug nuts. See Special Tools .
- Using the J 42129
or equivalent, begin to disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub assembly. See Special Tools .
- Ensure the backing plate is positioned correctly during installation.
