Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    IMPORTANT: Tap out sensor mounting hole in engine head to remove any thread sealant residue. Clean any sealant residue from old sensor and apply RTV sealant to threads if old sensor is going to be reused.

  1. Apply thread sealant GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent, to sensor threads.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the ECT sensor.

    Tighten:  Tighten the engine coolant temperature sensor to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  4. Connect the ECT sensor harness connector. Push in the connector until a click is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
  5. Fill engine coolant to proper level. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LX9) or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LZ9) or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) in Engine Cooling.
  6. Install the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
