Installation Procedure

    IMPORTANT: Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants .
  1. Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joints (1).

  3. Install a new gasket to the valve rocker arm cover. Ensure that the gasket is properly seated in the groove of the valve rocker arm cover.
  4. Install the right valve rocker arm cover.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
    IMPORTANT: Use an alternating criss-cross pattern when tightening the valve rocker cover bolts. Failure to do so may result in oil leakage from the valve cover due to improper seating of the gasket.
  6. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the vacuum hose to the grommet in the right valve rocker arm cover.
  8. Install the ignition coil bracket studs.
  9. Install the ignition coil bracket with coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .
  10. Install the EVAP purge valve.
  11. Connect the vacuum hoses to the EVAP purge valve.
  12. Install the right spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .
  13. Install the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement (RPO LX9) .
  14. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (RPO LX9) or Generator Replacement (RPO LZ9) .
  15. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
