1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check for Engine Electrical? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Engine Electrical 
2 Start the engine.
Does the battery charge indicator remain illuminated?
- Go to Step 3  Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Battery 1 parameter in the body control module (BCM) data list.
Does the voltage measure within the normal operating range?
10.5-17.5 V Go to Step 4  Go to Charging System Test 
4 With a scan tool, command the lamp and gages On and Off.
Does the charge indicator turn On and Off with each command?
- Go to Step 5  Go to Step 6

IMPORTANT: The replacement engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) must be programmed.
Replace the ECM/PCM. Refer to Engine Control Module (ECM) Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.2 L (L61) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.0 L (LSJ).Did you complete the replacement?
- Go to Step 7  -
6 Replace the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
Did you complete the replacement?
- Go to Step 7  -
7 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
- System OK Go to Step 2
