Front Disc Brake Pads: Installation

NOTE: Always replace brake pads as axle sets.
  1. Using a "C" clamp, bottom caliper piston all the way into the caliper bore.
    2. NOTE: Linings are identified for left or right use. Install linings so arrow is pointing downward, with forward rotation of wheel.
  2. Install inner and outer brake pads into calipers.
  3. Position caliper onto caliper support bracket.
  4. Lubricate the straight section (not the threads) of the guide pins with silicone grease.
  5. Install guide pins through the caliper body into the caliper support and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Install guide bushings and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Install caliper retainer spring.
  8. Reattach brake hose to the strut assembly and install lock plate.
  9. Repeat step  1 for the opposite axle.
  10. Position wheel onto the hub.
  11. Install wheels. Tighten lug nuts to specification.
  12. Lower vehicle from hoist.
  13. Prior to operating vehicle, depress brake pedal a few times until brake pads are seated against rotor.
