Manual Bleeding

  1. Fill master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid. Keep reservoir at least half full during bleeding procedure.
  2. If master cylinder is suspected of having air in it's bore, bleed master cylinder before proceeding to brake line bleeding.
    • Loosen front brake pipe at master cylinder allowing fluid to flow.
    • Tighten front brake pipe into master cylinder, loosen brake pipe 1/4 turn.
    • Depress pedal until fluid is seen coming from brake pipe fitting.
    • Tighten brake pipe into master cylinder while pedal is depressed, slowly release pedal.
    • Repeat until all air is removed from front cylinder bore, repeat for rear brake pipe fitting as well.
    • Tighten brake pipe-to-master cylinder nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Bleed individual calipers and wheel cylinders. See BRAKELINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE  table.
  4. Tighten front caliper bleeder valves to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Check brake pedal for sponginess. If this is felt, repeat bleeding procedure. See step  3 .
  6. While engine is running check for any possible leaks.
