Parking Brake: Notes
NOTE:
On new vehicles with less than 50 miles and vehicles equipped with rear drum brakes, press and release the brake pedal 20 times. This allows the adjuster to position the brake shoes and prevent premature wear.
NOTE:
After installation of any new parking brake system components (e.g., parking brake lever, cable, drum brake shoes, adjuster, lever, rear disc brake caliper, etc.), the parking brake system must be set prior to performing the final parking brake adjustment. To set the parking brake system after performing initial adjustment, pull up on parking brake lever 3-4 times with about 100 lbs. (445 N.m) of force.
