Brake Drum

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove rear wheels.
  3. Remove rear drums. See REAR BRAKE DRUMS  .
  4. Set the Drum-To-Brake Shoe Clearance Gauge (J-21177-A) so that the gauge contacts the inside diameter of drum at the widest point.
  5. Position clearance gauge over the shoes at the widest point.
  6. Turn adjuster nut until shoes just contact the clearance gauge.
  7. Repeat measuring procedures for the other side rear brake assembly.
  8. Install rear brake drums.
  9. Install rear wheels. Tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  10. Lower vehicle.
