Drum Brakes
- Remove parking brake boot from console by squeezing sides and pulling upward.
- Raise vehicle on hoist, allowing wheels to spin freely.
- Pull parking brake lever to 3rd click.
- Tighten adjuster nut at the base of parking brake handle so there is heavy drag to no rotation, equal to both rear wheels.
- Apply and release parking brake several times. There should be no drag when parking brake lever is in rest position.
- Pull parking brake to the 3rd click. There should be heavy drag at both wheels when turned by hand.
- If necessary, repeat steps 3 - 5 until adjustment is correct.
- Install parking brake lever boot.
- Lower vehicle from hoist.
NOTE:
If both rear wheels do not exhibit similar drag in step 5
, check for damaged or incorrectly installed rear disc or drum brake assembly components, parking brake cables, and/or park brake lever assembly. Correct as necessary, then return to step 3
