Wheel Cylinders: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove rear wheels.
- Remove brake drum. See REAR DRUM .
- Clean any debris and contaminants from around wheel cylinder.
- Remove wheel cylinder bleeder cap and valve.
- Disconnect brake pipe fitting from wheel cylinder. Cap the exposed brake pipe end to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove wheel cylinder mounting bolts.
- Using the Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover (J-38400), spread the top of the brakes shoes apart, then remove wheel cylinder from brake backing plate.
