Wheel Cylinders: Installation

  1. Using the Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover, spread the top of the brakes shoes apart, then install wheel cylinder to brake backing plate.
  2. Install wheel cylinder mounting bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Remove cap from brake pipe end. Tighten to specification.
  4. Connect brake pipe fitting at wheel cylinder. Tighten to specification.
  5. Install wheel cylinder bleeder valve. Tighten to specification.
  6. Install brake drum. See REAR DRUM .
  7. Bleed hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  8. Install bleeder valve cap.
  9. Adjust drum brakes. See REAR DRUM .
  10. Install rear wheels.
  11. Lower vehicle.
