Master Cylinder: Installation

  1. Bench bleed master cylinder.
  2. Ensure that master cylinder-to-vacuum brake booster seal is properly seated into the recessed groove on master cylinder.
  3. Install master cylinder to vacuum brake booster.
  4. Install brake master cylinder mounting nuts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Remove caps from brake pipe ends.
  6. Connect brake pipe fittings at master cylinder. Tighten to specification.
  7. Install brake master cylinder auxiliary reservoir.
  8. Install underhood electrical center bracket to vehicle and install electrical center into position on the bracket.
  9. Connect electrical connector to brake fluid level sensor, then press forward on the CPA tab of the connector to secure.
  10. Install cover to underhood electrical center.
  11. Connect negative battery cable.
  12. Bleed hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
