Front Disc Brake Pads: Installation

Using "C" clamp over the body of the brake caliper and against an old inboard brake pad or a wood block installed against the caliper piston, tighten "C" clamp evenly until caliper piston is compressed completely into caliper bore.
Remove "C" clamp.
Apply a very thin coating of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the pad hardware mating surfaces of the caliper bracket only.
Install brake pad retainers to brake caliper bracket.

NOTE: Wear sensor equipped disc brake pad must be mounted inboard of rotor with the leading edge of the sensor facing the brake rotor during forward wheel rotation or at the top of the pad when installed in vehicle position.

Install brake pads to caliper bracket.
Remove support and rotate brake caliper into position over the disc brake pads and to the caliper mounting bracket.
Install lower brake caliper guide pin bolt. Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Remove wheel lug nuts retaining brake rotor to hub.
Install wheels.
Lower vehicle.
With engine off, gradually apply brake pedal about 2/3 of its travel distance.
Slowly release brake pedal.
Wait 15 seconds, then gradually apply the brake pedal about 2/3 of its travel distance again until a firm brake pedal apply is obtained to properly seat brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
Fill master cylinder auxiliary reservoir to the proper level.
Burnish the pads and rotors. To burnish pads and rotors, accelerate vehicle to 30 MPH. Using moderate to firm pressure, apply brakes to bring vehicle to a stop. DO NOT allow brakes to lock. Repeat about 20 stops. Allow sufficient cooling periods between stops in order to properly burnish brake pads and rotors.
