Front Brake Caliper: Installation

  1. Install brake caliper to brake caliper bracket.
  2. Install caliper guide pin bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Remove the caps or plugs from the brake caliper opening and brake hose.
  4. Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets to brake hose-to-caliper bolt and to brake hose.
  5. Install brake hose and brake hose-to-brake caliper bolt to brake caliper. Tighten to specification.
  6. Bleed hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  7. Remove wheel lug nuts retaining brake rotor to wheel hub.
  8. Install wheels.
  9. Lower vehicle.
  10. With engine off, gradually apply brake pedal to about 2/3 of its travel distance.
  11. Slowly release brake pedal.
  12. Wait 15 seconds, then gradually apply brake pedal about 2/3 of its travel distance again until a firm brake pedal apply is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
