Stoplight Switch
- Loosen stoplight switch mounting nut sufficiently to allow switch to move forward and rearward in the adjustment slot. See Fig 1 .
- Install Stoplight Switch Adjustment Gauge (SA9303BR) between the stoplight switch and switch actuator pad on brake pedal arm. Ensure that plunger protrudes through the slot in the gauge. See Fig 1 .
- While pulling up on brake pedal assembly with a moderate force, push switch forward against the gauge.
- Tighten switch mounting nut.
- Release brake pedal assembly.
- With pedal released and adjustment gauge still in position, tap gauge side-to-side. If gauge swings freely side-to-side, proceed to next step. If gauge sticks or does not swing freely, repeat step 1 .
- With adjustment gauge in position, pull up on brake pedal with very light force, about 2 lbs. (9 N) and tap the gauge side-to-side. If gauge swings freely, repeat step 1 . If gauge sticks and/or does not swing freely, proceed to next step.
- Inspect switch plunger. If 0.03-0.05" (0.8-1.2 mm) of the plunger is visible between switch and switch actuator pad on brake pedal arm, the switch is correctly adjusted. The height of the rounded crown of the plunger is equivalent to 0.04" (1 mm). If more than 0.05" (1.2 mm) or less than 0.3" (0.8 mm) of the plunger is visible, repeat step 1 .
NOTE:
Hold switch perpendicular to the actuator pad on brake pedal arm to prevent switch from rotating out of alignment when tightening mounting nut.
