Steering Wheel: Installation

  1. Remove yellow tab or tape from SIR Coil assembly.
  2. Route wiring through steering wheel and install steering wheel onto steering shaft noting orientation notch that locates steering wheel in correct position.
    NOTE: A new steering wheel attachment nut must be used.
  3. Install new steering wheel attachment nut. Tighten steering wheel attaching nut to 40 N.m (30 ft lbs).

  4. Connect cruise control (if equipped) switch connectors and attach harness to wheel.

  5. Connect inflator module wiring harness and install Connector Position Assurance (CPA) device.
  6. Install inflator module into steering wheel. Be sure to seat all four attachment points.

  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM procedure.
