Front Disc Brake Pads & Caliper: Removal

  1. Raise vehicle on hoist and remove front wheels.
  2. Remove brake hose from caliper. Plug openings in caliper and hose to avoid fluid loss and contamination.
  3. Remove retaining spring from the caliper.
  4. Remove caliper-to-bracket guide pins. See Figure .
  5. Remove caliper from support bracket.
  6. Remove brake pads from caliper assembly.
  7. Inspect guide pin boots, covers, piston boot, and guide pin with in caliper assembly and replace or overhaul any corroded or damaged parts.
