Disc Brakes

NOTE: After installation of any new brake components, set the parking brake system prior to performing final parking brake adjustment. To set parking brake system after adjustment, pull up on parking brake lever 3-4 times with about 100 lbs. (45.3 kg) of force.
NOTE: Before installing wheel, remove any rust or corrosion from mounting and rotor surfaces.
  1. Remove brake boot from console by squeezing sides and pulling upward.
  2. Raise vehicle onto hoist allowing wheels to spin freely.
  3. Remove rear wheel assembly.
  4. Access to brake shoe adjuster is through a hole in front of rotor.
  5. Using a medium sized flat blade screwdriver, turn adjuster (clockwise) at rear rotor until brake disc locks. Turn adjuster back (counter clockwise) until disc moves freely.
  6. Pull parking lever to 3rd click.
  7. Tighten adjuster nut at base of parking brake lever until the rear wheel can be turned by hand (heavy drag), equal to both rear wheels.
  8. Apply and release parking brake several times. There should be no drag when parking brake lever is in rest position.
  9. Pull parking brake to 3rd click. There should be heavy drag at both wheels when turned by hand.
  10. If necessary, repeat steps  3 - 5 until adjustment is correct.
  11. Install parking brake lever boot.
  12. Install wheel and lower vehicle.
