Diagnostic Procedure
- If SIR diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect SDM connector. Check connector terminals for signs of corrosion, poor connection or other damage. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is damaged, replace connector. See WIRE REPAIR . Go to step 14.
- Using Digital Multimeter (SA911141NE) with Adapter Kit (SA9206Z), measure resistance between SDM harness connector terminals B7 and B8. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, go to step 11.
- Turn ignition on. Using Digital Multimeter (SA911141NE) with Adapter Kit (SA9206Z), measure voltage between SDM terminal B8 and ground. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is one volt or more, go to step 11.

- Disconnect SIS connector. Using Digital Multimeter (SA911141NE) with Adapter Kit (SA9206Z), measure resistance between SDM harness connector terminal B8 and SIS harness connector terminal "B". If resistance is less than 3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 3 ohms or more, go to step 10.
- Using Digital Multimeter (SA911141NE) with Adapter Kit (SA9206Z), measure resistance between SDM harness connector terminal B7 and SIS harness connector terminal "A". If resistance is 3 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 3 ohms, go to step 12.
- Repair open circuit. See WIRE REPAIR . Go to step 14.
- Disconnect SIS. If condition is no longer present, go to next step. If condition is still present, go to step 13.
- Replace SIS. See SIDE IMPACT SENSOR (SIS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 14.
- Turn ignition off. Repair circuits that are shorted to each other, to voltage or to ground. See WIRE REPAIR . Go to next step.
- Reconnect all SIR components. Ensure that all components are properly mounted. Using scan tool, clear all SIR DTCs. Go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
