Diagnostic Procedure
- If SIR diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect passenger head impact air bag Yellow 2-pin connector located under trim panel. See Figure. If connector is damaged or corroded, go to next step. If connector is okay, go to step 4.
- If harness connector is damaged, replace connector. See WIRE REPAIR . Go to step 11. If head impact air bag connector is damaged, go to step 10.
- Turn ignition off. Install SIR Driver-Passenger Load Tool (SA9409-Z) to head impact air bag harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for SIR DTCs. If DTC B0029 is set, go to next step. If DTC B0029 is not set, go to step 10.
- Turn ignition off. Remove SIR Driver-Passenger Load Tool (SA9409-Z) from harness connector. Disconnect SDM harness connector. See Figure. Using Digital Multimeter (SA911141NE) with Adapter Kit (SA9206Z), measure resistance between SDM harness connector terminal B4 and head impact air bag harness connector terminal "A". If resistance is one ohm or less, go to step 7. If resistance is more than one ohm, go to next step.
- Repair open or high resistance in circuit 2135. See WIRE REPAIR . Go to step 11.
- Using Digital Multimeter (SA911141NE) with Adapter Kit (SA9206Z), measure resistance between SDM harness connector terminal B6 and head impact air bag harness connector terminal "B". If resistance is one ohm or less, go to step 9. If resistance is more than one ohm, go to next step.
- Repair open or high resistance in circuit 2136. See WIRE REPAIR . Go to step 11.
- Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 11.
- Replace head impact air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
- Reconnect all SIR components. Ensure that all components are properly mounted. Using scan tool, clear all SIR DTCs. Go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
