Test A: Instrument Cluster Lamp & Gauge Sweep Tests
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, perform instrument cluster LAMP and GAUGE SWEEP tests. If bulb or indicator does not operate according to scan tool command, go to next step. If bulb or indicator operates according to scan tool command, go to step 3 .
- If DRL, high beam or turn signal indicators are inoperative, check instrument cluster telltale indicator bulb. Replace as necessary and retest. If DRL, high beam or turn signal indicator bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. For all other inoperative telltale indicators, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Communication between scan tool and instrument cluster is okay, but communication between appropriate control module and instrument cluster is not. Go to appropriate article for indicator that is malfunctioning. See SYMPTOM INDEX table. Repair as necessary and retest.
NOTE:
DRL, high beam and turn signal indicator bulbs are the only indicator bulbs in instrument cluster which are replaceable.
