Adjustment (Disc & Drum Brakes)

  1. Pull parking brake lever up. Remove screw from right side of cover, pull cover upward to remove. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Pull parking brake lever up to third ratchet click. Tighten adjuster nut at base of lever until there is heavy drag to no rotation, equal to both rear wheels.
  3. Apply and release parking brake several times, using about 100 lbs. (45 kg) of force. With lever at rest, turn rear wheels by hand. There should be no brake drag at rear wheels. Pull lever to third ratchet click. There should be heavy drag at both wheels when turned by hand.
  4. At third ratchet click, there should be heavy drag at both wheels when turned by hand. If brake drag is as specified, parking brake is adjusted. If brake drag is not as specified, return to step  2 .
