Test A: Horn Always On

  1. Swap horn relay with A/C relay in under hood fuse block. If horns do not turn off, go to next step. If horns turn off, replace horn relay.
  2. Disconnect 4-pin SIR coil connector (Black) under steering column. If horn did not turn off, go to next step. If horn turned off, check horn switch. If switch is okay, replace SIR coil. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  3. Disconnect BCM connector J3 (Brown). Using a DVOM, check for continuity between BCM connector J3 terminal B7 and ground. See Fig 1 . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Black wire between horn relay and BCM or between horn relay and 4-pin SIR connector (Black). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Disconnect horn connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance across horn. If resistance is not 2-4 ohms, replace horn. If resistance is 2-4 ohms, problem is intermittent.
