SUBJECT

Front and Rear Side Door Window Frame Appliques and/or Windshield Frame Filler Panel Appliques Exhibiting Top Coat Paint Peeling (Replace Side Door Window Frame and/or Windshield Frame Filler).

MODELS AFFECTED

1996 - 2002 Saturn S-Series vehicles (sedans and wagons) up to and including VIN 2Z270483.

CONDITION

Some customers may comment about a front or rear side door window frame applique and/or windshield frame filler panel applique exhibiting the top coat paint peeling from one or all of the appliques.

CAUSE

Ultra Violet degradation of production top coat.

CORRECTION

Refer to the following service procedures in this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

FRONT DOOR WINDOW FRAME APPLIQUE - SEDAN/WAGON:

Removal

Fig 1: Front Retaining Screws

Remove two retaining screws. See Fig 1 .
Slide applique rearward to disengage hooks from door.

REAR DOOR FRONT APPLIQUE - SEDAN/WAGON

Removal

Fig 2: Rear Retaining Screws

Remove retaining screws. See Fig 2 .
Slide applique forward to disengage hooks from door.

WINDSHIELD FRAME FILLER PANEL

Removal

Remove windshield pillar lower side applique by removing one retaining screw and sliding applique up and rearward to allow tab to disengage from keyhole. See Fig 3 .

FRONT DOOR WINDOW FRAME APPLIQUE - SEDAN/WAGON

Installation

Position applique to door. Press applique to engage into door.
Install two retaining screws. Tighten the rear door front applique to 2 Nm (18 lb in). Refer to Fig 1 .

REAR DOOR FRONT APPLIQUE - SEDAN/WAGON

Installation

Position applique to door and press on applique to seat hooks inside of applique into slots in door.
Install retaining screws. Tighten the rear door front applique screws (sedan/wagon) to 2 Nm (18 lb in). See Fig 2 .

WINDSHIELD FRAME FILLER PANEL

Installation

Install windshield lower side applique. Position applique to pillar, slide forward and down until applique contacts fender. See Fig 3 .
