Preliminary Information (Drum Brakes)
- If shoes have been serviced, apply and release brake pedal 20 times before inspecting and adjusting parking brake. This allows adjuster to position brake shoes and prevents premature wear of brake linings due to improper parking brake adjustment.
- During inspection and adjustment procedures, if both rear wheels do not exhibit about the same amount of brake drag (drag is not equal from side to side), check for damaged or incorrectly installed drum brake components, parking brake cables or parking brake lever assembly.
