Removal & Installation (2000 Models - With Seal Housing Installed)

  1. Remove flywheel/flexplate. See appropriate article in CLUTCHES (M/T), or appropriate TRANSMISSION REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING (A/T). Carefully pry seal out of seal housing. DO NOT damage bore in seal housing or sealing surface of crankshaft.
  2. Attach base of Seal Installer (SA9121E) to crankshaft using bolts. See Figure. Apply a thin coat of engine oil to sealing lip and seal housing bore. Place seal on installer base. Set seal installer in place. Tighten nut until seal is fully seated in seal housing. Never tap on seal or installer with a hammer. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
