SERVICE (Wrench) Indicator

The SERVICE (wrench) indicator is turned on by the instrument cluster when it receives a command from PCM on 4-cylinder models, or BCM on V6 models. Instrument cluster will illuminate SERVICE (wrench) telltale indicator when non-emission related DTCs exist for engine, emission or automatic transaxle control system. SERVICE (Wrench) telltale indicator may also be illuminated when some ABS related DTCs exist. If ABS system is unable to illuminate the ABS telltale indicator, the EBTCM will send a message to BCM over the Key Word 2000 (KW2000) data link to illuminate SERVICE (wrench) telltale indicator. For a system check, SERVICE (wrench) telltale indicator will be illuminated for 2-3 seconds when ignition switch is turned to RUN position.
