Schematic:

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the resistance of the fuel level sensor to calculate the amount of fuel in the tank and provides a voltage to the fuel level sensor through a resistor network and a return to PCM ground.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0461 will set if the fuel level changes by less than 1.6% while driving 120 miles.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Using Scan tool, rock vehicle back and forth while monitoring fuel level voltage. Voltage will fluctuate in a normal operating system.

POSSIBLE CAUSES:
^ Mechanically stuck fuel sender assembly.
^ Damage or perforated fuel sender float.
