Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Determine if DTCs P0740 or P0744 are present. These flags must be eliminated first as a possible cause for DTC P0742.
  2. Check actuator operation. See ACTUATOR QUICK CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Operation sound of all actuators should be similar.
  3. Other possibility for DTC P0742 is TCC release circuit leaking at seal ring on input shaft or ball pressed into input shaft is loose.
