Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Start and operate engine at idle. Ensure transaxle is in Park or Neutral. Using scan tool, read turbine speed. If scan tool displays turbine speed, problem is intermittent. If scan tool does not display turbine speed, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector J4. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals B10 and B11 on connector J4. If resistance is 800-1600 ohms, inspect sensor installation and terminals. Repair as needed. If sensor is okay, replace PCM. If resistance is not 800-1600 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect turbine speed sensor. Sensor is mounted below cooler line fittings. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between sensor terminals. If resistance is not 800-1600 ohms, replace turbine speed sensor. If resistance is 800-1600 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Inspect each circuit between sensor and PCM for open, short to ground, short to voltage or short to each other. Repair as needed.
