Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Using scan tool, select GENERAL INFORMATION TABLE. Monitor turbine speed noise. Start engine with shift selector in Park. Wiggle PCM connectors. If Turbine Speed Sensor (TSS) noise value changes, inspect and repair PCM connection.
  2. Wiggle connection at TSS. If TSS noise value changes, inspect and repair TSS connector.
  3. Tap outside case of PCM with handle of screwdriver. If TSS noise value changes, replace PCM.
  4. Turn ignition off. Inspect PCM and TSS connectors and terminals. Repair as needed. If none of previous steps have found any problems, check for: secondary ignition input to TSS, TSS loose, intermittent TSS malfunction, intermittent PCM malfunction, excessive 2/3 clutch hub runout and intermittent open, short or ground in circuits between TSS and PCM.
