DTC 71 - Internal SDM Failure: Description
DTC 71 is an indication of potential internal SDM malfunction and will set if any of the following conditions are detected:
1) VLR voltage out of normal range (approximately 23 volts).
2) Voltage measured at DRIVER SIDE LO is greater than 3 volts and voltage measured ad PASSENGER SIDE LO is less than or equal to 3 volts (DTC 18)
3) Voltage measured at DRIVER SIDE LO is less than or equal to 3 volts and voltage measured at PASSENGER SIDE LO is greater than 3 volts (DTC 24).
4) Voltage measured at DRIVER SIDE LO and PASSENGER SIDE LO are less than 3 volts.
5) Crash data recording reserved voltage discharge time failure for 3 consecutive ignition cycles.
6) Calculated checksum for internal memory does not match stored value.
7) Sensing device inside SDM which converts vehicle velocity changes to electrical signal is malfunctioning.
8) Driver current source and/or passenger current source is malfunctioning.
9) Temporary memory storage area is malfunctioning.
10) SDM unable to read from or write to EEPROM.
11) Voltage measured at DRIVER SIDE LO and PASSENGER SIDE LO are greater than or equal to 5 volts. This indicates that an internal arming sensor is shorted.
12) There is a microprocessor energy reserve time failure.
