Diagnostic Aids

It is critical to diagnose all circuitry before replacing SDM. If malfunction still exists, new SDM will be damaged. An intermittent condition is likely caused by short to ground in passenger-side inflator module circuit. Inspect circuits 347 and 348 for cutting or chafing. If wiring pigtail of passenger-side inflator module is damaged, module must be replaced. If no faults are found after careful inspection, fault may have occurred internal to SDM.

NOTE: Step numbers refer to step numbers on diagnostic chart. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAM .

1) This test checks if malfunction is in driver-side inflator module, SIR coil or circuitry.
2) This test checks if malfunction is due to driver-side inflator module or SIR coil.
3) This test checks for short from DRIVER SIDE HI to ground.
5) This test checks for short from DRIVER SIDE LO to ground or SDM integrity problem.
